Beware! The ‘Busa Beckons
Last October, two-time ADRL Pro Extreme Motorcycle World Champion Billy Vose debuted a new Suzuki Hayabusa-powered machine at the LenMar Motorsports ADRL World Finals V in Ennis, Texas, as he helped usher in a new era to the class.

Groom’s Gallery from Qatar Race Club
American Drag Racing League Director of Contingencies Tom Grooms is part of the ADRL crew that made the long haul over to Doha, Qatar, for a three-week stay while they help administer three events for the associated Arabian Drag Racing League.
Though his duties primarily involve helping the racers exit the strip at the top end of the Qatar Race Club strip, Grooms found a little time to snap a few photos for the ADRL faithful back home.

Charles Carpenter: Looking Forward to 2010
Following a runner-up finish at the LenMar Motorsports ADRL World Finals V, Pro Nitrous legend Charles Carpenter is second in National Guard ADRL points heading into next season’s championship-deciding Speedtech Battle for the Belts chase.
“It’s been an incredible year. I thought I was done after that wreck in March, but here we are with a runner-up finish and sitting second in the points to begin 2010,” Carpenter said. “We’re going to use this momentum to get us through the off-season, and hopefully next year we can come out stronger than ever.”

Through its revolutionary complimentary ticket program, the National Guard American Drag Racing League (ADRL) attracts an audience to each event that typically includes about 70 percent newcomers to the sport of drag racing. With average attendance at 30,000-plus per day that’s a huge exposure to a new, untapped fan base that includes people from all ethnicities, social backgrounds and income levels.That point was driven home to Pro Extreme team owner and crew chief Camp Stanley during the recent LenMar Motorsports ADRL World Finals V at the Texas Motorplex.

Wild Ride for Scruggs
Jason Scruggs made another of his miraculous saves when his ‘68 Camaro got out of shape Oct. 23, while racing Todd Tutterow in the semi-finals of the National Guard ADRL’s Speedtech Battle for the Belts at the Texas Motorplex and freelance photographer Joe Lorenzini was in the right place at the right time to capture the action.

Hamstra PX Crash Sequence
Talented freelance photographer Joe Lorenzini captured Pro Extreme driver Jason Hamstra’s crash Oct. 23, in the semi-finals of the National Guard ADRL’s Speedtech Battle for the Belts at the Texas Motorplex. Though airlifted by helicopter to a Dallas hospital following the accident, Hamstra was released the next morning with no serious injuries at all.

Oddy’s Austin On the Way

In the case of legendary tuner Jim Oddy, who now serves as crew chief on the National Guard-backed ‘57 Chevy that Joshua Hernandez drives in Pro Extreme action, it was a little ‘48 Austin that initially carried him to drag racing glory.

BTG: Steve Earwood
Steve Earwood has owned and operated Rockingham Dragway for more than 17 years and even he was blown away by the National Guard ADRL’s Flowmaster Dragstock VI, held recently at his track nestled in the pine forests of central North Carolina.
We caught up with Earwood, 61, back at “The Rock” bright and early Sunday morning after the race, running the timing system for a few ADRL teams that lingered for a little testing after the record-setting crowds had long gone home.
