D’Aprile On Mend, On Course For Rockingham

As everyone should know, your agent is dedicated to finding out all the latest scoops, whether it is over the phone, in print, online or via social networking.

Your agent thanks his abundance of friends on Facebook for leading him to find out that Pro Extreme driver Tommy D’Aprile (pictured) had surgery on his elbow earlier this week, but he will be ready to go for Simpson Dragstock VII at Rockingham Dragway on Sept. 10-11.

D’Aprile needed the surgery after his wreck in Valdosta, which was in late April. Your agent found out the injury didn’t heal properly, which is why the surgery became necessary.

Somehow, D’Aprile kept racing and showed some pretty impressive grit by racing through the pain, opting to hold off surgery until after the Hardee’s Gateway Drags.
Your agent thinks he might be better than ever in Rockingham after the surgery, and your agent also wishes him a speedy recovery before the anticipated race!

Morton Ready to Take Down Montecalvo

Your agent got some playful trash talk - or at least he thinks it was playful - during an enjoyable phone conversation with Extreme Pro Stock driver Elijah Morton (pictured).

After discussing a variety of topics, including the upcoming Simpson Dragstock VII from Rockingham Dragway on Sept. 10-11, Morton got in a few humorous digs at Montecalvo, the current points leader who had won four straight races before the Gateway Drags.

Morton is right in the thick of the points race as well and admitted to being friendly rivals with Montecalvo for several years. But Morton also has plans on getting his own victory in Rockingham and threw some playful jabs in Montecalvo’s direction to get ready for the race. Check out these gems:

“You can tell him that I hope he likes a blue Mustang because that’s all he’s going to see in his windshield all weekend.”

“The race is in the Tar Heel state and we’re going to keep that Minuteman in the Tar Heel state. He doesn’t need to go back to New York with it.”

Your agent finds this pretty entertaining and he’s even more excited for Dragstock now.

Berner Gets New Car Chief

Your agent is finding out that an injury isn’t keeping Pete Berner (pictured) from moving forward.
If you recall, Berner was involved in a non-racing accident that saw his car get totaled just a week before the Hardee’s Gateway Drags III.
Your agent was amazed to see that he was still able to race, though it wasn’t exactly a memorable weekend.
As Berner and his Summit Racing Equipment team dropped to eighth in the points in a tight Extreme Pro Stock division, your agent found out Berner wasn’t wasting time to do something about it. His team has hired Tommy Sevier to be the new car chief.
“He’s been around Pro Stock for a long time and knows a lot about car set up,” Berner told your agent. “He’ll be a great asset to this Summit team and we’re really looking forward to having him on board. We can’t wait to get back to the track!”
Berner will be racing at Simpson Dragstock VII at Rockingham Dragway on Sept. 10-11 and the time in between races should allow him to heal even more.

Testing at Piedmont Dragway Before Simpson Dragstock

Your agent was informed of a great deal for some pre-race testing in preparation for the ADRL’s annual spectacular show at Rockingham Dragway.

Piedmont Dragway, which located about an hour from Rockingham. is holding an open test session Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, which is Sept. 7-9. It comes right before what will be another huge ADRL event, Simpson Dragstock VII, which takes place Sept. 10-11 at Rockingham Dragway.

Your agent found out the cost for this great opportunity is only $200 per car per day or $300 per car for two days. As your agent can attest, that’s ridiculously cheap.
For those that are interested, your agent suggests calling Bubba at (336) 684-2990 for more details. With Rockingham sure to yield great times and plenty of exciting and intense racing, your agent can’t imagine not jumping on this pre-race testing opportunity.

Birthday Wishes to Bret Kepner!

Your agent would like to pass on birthday wishes to the ADRL’s own Bret Kepner, who continues to dazzle race fans with his memorable voice during all of the ADRL’s live broadcasts.
Kepner has been a mainstay in the racing and ADRL world and his contributions are too many to list.
But your agent is one of many who appreciates his work and all that he does for this fine sport and the ADRL. His knowledge of the ADRL scene is obvious during these telecasts and he’s one of the key reasons why these all-access shows have been such a hit.
Mr. Kepner, your agent hopes you have an enjoyable birthday and that your voice will continue to regale all of us for years and years to come.

MAVTV Ready to Roll With ADRL

The ADRL’s debut on MAVTV is still more than two weeks away, but your agent is pleased to report that the station is already busy in getting the word out about its new relationship with the ADRL.

The promotion has already been strong and your agent has been impressed with all the publicity. Your agent has also been hearing that MAVTV is just as excited about its programming with the ADRL and is ready to pull out all the stops to make it a huge success.

Your agent found out some details about how MAVTV plans to do so as well. The first part is showing off a cool logo that you see above.

Secondly, the show will be featured in a great slot on the Thursday motorsports block and the debut show is a full 2 hours long! That’s great news for the Sept. 9 debut and your agent hopes each show gets the 120-minute treatment. The show will run every Thursday starting Sept. 9, concluding with the season-recap show on December 2.

Camp Stanley’s Way With Words

Your agent was treated to and excellent - and very creative - summation of Murphy’s Law as it applied to Pro Extreme driver John Stanley at Gateway International Raceway.

It was delivered by the always-colorful and animated Camp Stanley (pictured), who shows he has quite the way with words in the piece at this link: http://dragstory.com/ws/?p=2227

Stanley’s PX car suffered through a number of difficulties in St. Louis, including being pushed off the side for the first time in his ADRL career after the burnout in the first qualifying session.

Stanley overcame that to qualify seventh at the Hardee’s Gateway Drags III, but he was dealt a first-round loss and dropped to 10th in the points standings.

Your agent knows Stanley is hoping for better luck in Rockingham - and he has the piece from Camp to prove it!

Fast by Gast Has Big Plans for Rockingham

Your agent learned today that dominant might not be good enough for Pro Extreme Motorcycle standout Ashley Owens and Fast by Gast owner Paul Gast (pictured).
Yeah, that’s a scary thought, indeed.
Your agent got word from Gast today that the Fast by Gast team plans to debut another new design engine at the next ADRL race, which is Simpson Dragstock VII from Rockingham Dragway in Rockingham, NC on Sept. 10-11.
Sure, Owens has won six of the seven races in PXM and has a massive points lead, but your agent found out Gast and his team isn’t satisfied.
“This guy is incredible and the bike is awesome, but we notice the gap is closing,” Gast told your agent. “The boys, and girl (Kim Morrell), are catching up.”
Gast ended by telling your agent they plan on pulling out all the stops to keep this memorable 2010 season going.
Owens has already gone 4.05 this year in what has been a standout season.
Could a 3-second run be in store this year?
