‘Hell Hoss’ Picks Up Pro Line Ponies
Your Agent just received word that the hard work continues in the LenMar Motorsports shop at Mansfield, TX, where Grant McCrary's '67 Mustang Pro Extreme entry is being fitted with a new engine and transmission combination.
Beneath the hood of G-Mac's gorgeous "Hell Hoss" will now reside a 632 c.i. Pro Line Race Engine fitted with a pair of 94-mm turbos. The extra horsepower from the wedge-head Ford will be routed through a Lenco clutch set-up instead of the Bruno converter package the car carried for its debut in the 2009 ADRL season opener at Dallas in October.
Also of note, local Ft. Worth chassis builder David Wolfe has been tapped as crew chief for McCrary's '09 PX charge, so your Agent expects this duo to figure in the Battle for the Belts points chase.

It’s a Girl!
Your Agent suspects this will be one New Year that ADRL Pro Extreme World Champion Jason Scruggs will never forget since his wife, Alice, gave birth at 8:47 a.m. (CST) yesterday to Hannah Claire Scruggs.
Hannah was 19 inches at birth and weighed in at 8 lbs 5 ozs. She joins sisters Carli, 4, and Catherine, 3, in the Scruggs household.
The champ sounded a little tired on the phone this morning, but said both Alice and Hannah are doing very well.
Congratulations to the entire Scruggs family from everyone at the ADRL.

Uh-oh! Stanley’s Got Maaco!
Fresh from the Maaco paint booth in Hagerstown, MD, comes John Stanley's new '68 Camaro that's destined for the 2009 ADRL Pro Extreme tour.
Apparently, John's brother, Raymond (with help from buddy, Richard), spent his days over the Christmas holidays prepping the McAmis-built body for fit and finish and readying it for the two-stage "Hugger Orange" hue. Raymond's signature, subtle rainbow flake in the clear coat gave it the finishing touch that Stanley & Weiss fans have come to expect and love.
Next up are detailing graphics from the capable hands of sign painter Tim Fraker.
Your Agent is confused, though. The Maaco job on his Pinto never looked that good!

Don't miss your chance to vote for ADRL prez Kenny Nowling in the CompetitionPlus.com War Stories competition.
Nowling's recollection of the inaugural Dragstock at Carolina Dragway is up against a tale from photographer Steve Reyes about a wheelstander mishap.

Pesz Joins ‘Bounty Hunter’ Team
Word comes to your Agent that longtime driver and tuner Brandon Pesz has been retained as full-time crew chief on Gaylen "Bounty Hunter" Smith's Pro Extreme classic 'Cuda.
Smith apparently plans a season-long run to qualify for the eight-car ADRL Battle for the Belts at Dallas next October and the addition of Pesz on the wrenches looks like a great step toward that goal.
Your Agent will be closely watching this team's progress.

Injected Nitro in Scruggs Future?
While your Agent was exchanging Merry Christmas pleasantries with Jason Scruggs this afternoon, the back-to-back reigning Pro Extreme world champ weighed in on the impending arrival of injected nitro in his class.
"Well, I'm pretty familiar with all kinds of combinations and it'll be interesting to see what happens," Scruggs said. "They make a lot of power and torque, but if they spin the tires at all they start dropping cylinders, so that will be hard to control, I'm sure. But the big advantage for those cars that I see is they don't carry a blower or transmission and those things are heavy pieces, so that's definitely going to save weight in building them."
Asked if he thought the injected nitro combo would become more prevalent in Pro Extreme, Scruggs said he wasn't sure, but no mater what, he wouldn't be left behind.
"If they start going a lot faster than we do, then we'll just have to get one, too," he stated. "It used to be that we were one of just a handful running the screw blower and now everyone has one. That's the way racing is, though. If someone goes faster, then you just have to get the same parts and go faster, too."
Is it any wonder why this guy is the ADRL champion?
Merry Christmas from your Agent.
