Your agent was blown away with the performance from Pro Extreme driver Danny Lowry, who made the quickest 1/8-mile run in the history of turbocharged cars last month at the U.S. Drags V at Virginia Motorsports Park.
In an article on Competition Plus, Lowry talked about the record-setting run, which saw his 2009 Mustang go 3.802, which is quicker than the 3.84 Grant McCrary ran last year and quicker than both Melanie Troxel and Brad Personnett went to the 1/8-mile in NHRA Pro Mod in 2011.
“It’s something that, being a turbo guy, I’ve dreamed about for a long time. I’m thrilled to get the opportunity to do this,†Lowry said in the article. “I think something like this is a testament to the entire turbo community. Now that we’ve figured this out, we’re going to run really fast.â€
In the article, Lowry also had some big predictions for what he thinks the car will do next weekend at the Summer Drags VIII at U.S. 131 Motorsports Park in Martin, Mich.
In Virginia, Lowry advanced to the quarterfinals before he was disqualified on a solo run when he left before the tree was activated. It was unfortunate, but Lowry left with high hopes for the rest of the season.
“I fully anticipate rolling the car out in Martin and running a mid-3.70s at least,†Lowry said. “From there, our goal is to qualify in the front half of the field and dip into the 3.60s. I don’t want to act like a jerk or like I’m bragging or anything, but that’s our expectations.â€
“These guys in the ADRL are really, really good and I have a great deal of admiration for them as drivers,†Lowry said. “But I think our turbo combination is going to be really good and hopefully it’s going to be hard to beat when we get it where we want it.â€
