Whoa!
Now this was very cool to see, as your agent read a great article on Drag Illustrated on legendary Pro Stock driver Warren Johnson helping out ADRL Extreme Pro Stock standout John Montecalvo.
As the story reads, Montecalvo was unable to attend a test session on Monday in Atlanta. Well, he got a pretty good replacement to test his 2012 RJ Race Cars Camaro, as Warren Johnson stepped in to provide some assistance.
Just reading about it was pretty amazing and the story said Johnson went 4.11 to 4.12 at about 175 mph on the test passes.
Here’s what both Johnson and Montecalvo had to say:
“These mountain-motor cars are absolutely the easiest and smoothest cars to drive,†he stated. “With the vast amount of power and torque that they have, combined with the Lenco transmission, you barely feel the gear changes in them. It’s just one, long, smooth application of power.
“I gave them some feedback and suggestions on what I would do, but they’re the ones who run that car all the time so whether it’s helpful or not to them, I can’t say. If they apply some of it I guess we’ll find out at the next race they’re at,†Johnson said.
Montecalvo said that’s not even in question.
“They said Warren was smiling, so he had fun, obviously. But he also gave us some good pointers on some things that we’re going to take his advice on. I mean, the guy’s probably forgotten more than we’ll ever learn; so why wouldn’t we?
“Seriously, could you have anyone better than Warren Johnson drive your car? I don’t think so.â€
