Aronson Leaves 2011 Behind With Career-Best Run In Houston

The 2011 Extreme Pro Stock season was one Cale Aronson would like to forget.

After his second pass on Friday at Royal Purple Raceway, that has likely happened. Aronson and his standout team put together a career-best pass to kick off the 2012 season, running an incredible 4.088 to jump to the third spot heading into eliminations at CarSafe Dragpalooza VIII at Royal Purple Raceway in Houston.

It was a welcome sign for Aronson, who suffered through a nightmarish 2011 season where seemingly nothing went right.

“That was better than anything we even ran in 2010 (when Aronson went to two ADRL finals). Jon Kaase got me some power back, we made some radical changes and the car seemed to like it,” Aronson said. “There’s definitely more in it.”

Aronson will look to build on that momentum in eliminations, and a strong start to 2012 would already have him in better position to top his 2011.

After a frustration-filled year in a class that seems to get better by the race, Aronson decided it was time to make significant changes on the car.

It went 4.12 right off the trailer in testing and continues to look strong at Royal Purple Raceway.

“The big thing was after really struggling in 2011, we stepped back and changed a bunch of little things,” Aronson said. “This is what we wanted and I’m happy right now.”
