ADRL Releases Official Rulebook For Pro Modified Exhibition

The American Drag Racing League (ADRL) released its official rulebook for the Pro Modified class on Thursday.

The full set of rules and regulations for the Pro Modified class can be downloaded at www.adrl.us/competition/rules or by clicking on the “Rules” dropdown under the “Competition” tab on the ADRL homepage, www.ADRL.us.

The ADRL announced earlier this month that it will add a 12-car exhibition, with an 8-car qualifying field to its fast-paced racing program, starting with next month’s Speedtech U.S. Drags IV, which takes place Aug. 12-13 at Virginia Motorsports Park in Petersburg, Va.

“The Pro Modified rules have been instituted for a number of years and we made certain that we adopted these rules and policies for our program,” ADRL Director of Technical Services Chris Bell said.

“We are excited to bring this aspect of racing into the ADRL and looking out for these team’s safety is our primary concern.”

Pro Modified racing in the ADRL will include a minimum weight requirement and maximum cubic-inch engine displacements, as the world’s premier eighth-mile drag racing league will adhere to current Pro Modified rules.

The minimum weight requirement will be 2,425 pounds for Nitrous cars and 2,650 pounds for Turbocharged and Supercharged entries.
Supercharged entries are limited to 526 CIwith 14.55 percent blower overdrive and Turbocharged cars will be limited to 540 CI with a single 120mm or twin 88mm turbos.

Additionally, all competitors must have a SFI 38.1 head and neck restraint device.

“There’s no doubt these cars are going to put on an incredible show for our fans and we can’t wait to see them perform in Virginia,” ADRL Director of Competition Tom Grooms said. “The input and reaction we have received regarding this exhibition has already been impressive.”

The widely-popular Pro Modified class, which boasts a rich doorslammer racing history, will mix supercharged, nitrous and turbo cars into one incredibly competitive division, adding even more excitement to the ADRL’s thrilling race weekend.

The 12-car exhibition and eight-car qualifying field’s inclusion into the action-packed program at the Speedtech U.S. Drags IV also sets up the strong possibility of adding another new ADRL class in the future.

For those interested in being part of the field at the Speedtech U.S. Drags IV, they must pre-register by contacting ADRL Director of Technical Services Chris Bell at chris@adrl.us.
